"I have had two absolutely wonderful wedding experiences working with Tim, both as a bridesmaid and now a bride! He was so unbelievably professional and easy to be comfortable around! He helped me out in such short notice as I had a previous panicking experience with another photographer and I couldn’t be more grateful. Turn around time was UNREAL and the photos were absolutely perfect. 10/10 recommend!!"

1. Storefronts on Commercial. The little entryways to the classic brick building with their granite steps, wooden doorways and brick wall make for great backdrops!
.
2. Waterfront of the Harbor. There's a few little hidden spots where I take couples down close to the water, love it even more when there's some ice-ice-baby!
.
3. Sunset Skies Above the Piers. In a city dense with buildings, when the skies light up in GORGEOUS colors, the piers make a great spot to catch them.
.
4. Water of the Harbor. The back bay has wonderful rocks where I can get great shots of the water and the sun reflecting off it, especially during sunrise.
.
5. Cherry blossoms. This is a tough one to catch, I love them so much and they're so fleeting. These are one of my favorite florals to catch in nature!
.
6. Shoreline of East End Beach. Okay it's a city....with a beach, doesn't get much better, nuff said.
.
7. COBBLESTONES. By FAR my favorite things so I saved it for last. Portland has amazing walkways and some roadways still paved with cobblestones and I love them, maybe too much. Scratch that, no such thing as loving cobblestones too much, they're amazing, especially against the brick.
.
Never change Portland, I love you!!!

We met before dawn for this downtown couples session and the sunrise light hitting the cobblestone was pure magic. Intimate, urban, and totally worth the early alarm!

My take? Lean into it. This couple nailed it with their outfit choice, we used the holden hour light to add some warmth to the brown grasses that allowed the color in her sweater to pop.

We captured this family standing on the beach at sunset just as the moon made its perfect, dramatic rise behind them.
It was a stunning, unexpected moment—a beautiful blend of golden light and celestial magic.

Met this amazing couple at Fort Williams Park for a sunset session, and the light did not disappoint! We chased the last rays, soaking up the ocean views and the glow of the Portland Head Light.
These sunset snuggles and the coastal views are everything!

It's not just luck—there's a beautiful science behind those intense magenta skies we caught at this Fort Williams engagement session!
We woke up before dawn and were absolutely rewarded. This time of year, Maine's sunrises are more vibrant because the cooler, drier air allows light to travel more efficiently. Less haze and dust mean those gorgeous, longer wavelengths (reds, oranges, and pinks) dominate the sky, especially when mid-level clouds act as a perfect canvas to catch the light.
When you pair that spectacular sky with the vibrant fall foliage below? Pure autumn magic! It was worth every early alarm to capture this kind of light for this amazing couple.

This time of year offers the most stunning natural backdrop for a ceremony. Here, the beautiful arch arrangement perfectly complemented the rich tones of the fall foliage behind it, creating a ceremony space that felt warm, lush, and completely timeless.
It's proof that sometimes, the best detail is the one nature provides. Save this for your autumn wedding inspiration!

You want to look back at your ceremony photos and see genuine emotion, not a dozen phone screens.
Tip Tuesday is all about an Unplugged Ceremony.
The Tip: Politely ask your guests to put away their phones and cameras during the ceremony.
Why does this matter for your photos?
Clear Views: It ensures no one steps into the aisle to grab a shot, blocking the key moment your professional photographer is paid to capture.
Genuine Presence: Your guests are fully present to witness your authentic vows, not distracted by trying to get a selfie.
Timeless Look: Your final gallery will have a beautiful, cohesive, and timeless look without the distracting glare of screens in the background.

When the sun sets and candles flicker, florals at the reception come alive in a whole new way. ✨ From lush centerpieces to tiny bud vases scattered across tables, they add warmth and dimension to the celebration.

6 Years I've been married to my wife, we've moved a few times, had 3 kids, shared endless adventures and travels together. The traditional 6 year gift is iron, so I worked with a jeweler and had this custom meteorite pendant necklace made for her (meteorites contain iron). A perfect gift for a wife and mother who is out of this world!

This time of year is filled with such a rich, cozy energy. With a beautiful arch and classic fall mums, their ceremony was perfectly set against the stunning backdrop of the season. It’s moments like these that make me fall in love with Maine weddings every single year.

Boutonnières are small, but they carry big meaning. 🌹 I’ve seen them crafted with a single flower to honor a loved one, or with herbs like rosemary for remembrance.
These little details often get overlooked, but when captured in a photo, they become timeless keepsakes.

In Tunisian and other Muslim wedding traditions, it’s common for the bride and groom to feed each other as a symbolic first act of married life. Often this includes honey, dates, or sweet pastries, representing a future filled with abundance, joy, and tenderness.
This gesture goes beyond sharing food — it’s a promise to nurture, support, and look after one another. Whether solemn and sweet or full of laughter, it’s one of those traditions that feels both intimate and universal.

Pick an engagment location that's unique to you. For this couple, it was a engagement session in a library, her love of books and her fiance came out in full force.

In a newborn session, it’s the wisps of hair, the curl of a tiny foot, and the perfect shape of a sleeping profile. At a wedding, it’s the way the sunlight catches the rings, the delicate details of a bouquet, or the tear in a parent’s eye.
These small moments are a beautiful part of your story, and they deserve to be captured with just as much care as the big ones.

.
Florals aren’t just for bouquets—they transform spaces. 🌸🌿 From arches draped in blooms to minimalist aisle accents, they set the tone the moment your guests arrive.
I love photographing the way florals frame a ceremony, especially when the light hits just right. It’s a perfect balance of artistry between the florist’s vision and the couple’s story.

In parts of Eastern Europe and India, it was once common for guests (or mischievous groomsmen) to “steal” the bride’s or groom’s shoes during the reception. The shoes would only be returned once a small ransom was paid — usually in drinks, dancing, or money.
It may sound silly, but even today, shoes carry symbolism of life’s journey. And for me, a close-up macro of wedding shoes waiting under the table could easily tie back to this playful old custom.

Every bouquet tells a story. Whether it’s bold pops of color, soft pastel tones, or wild greenery, I always take time to capture the flowers up close. 🌿✨ They’re not just an accessory—they’re part of the memory of your wedding day.
Fun fact: Many couples choose flowers with personal meaning—like roses for love, lavender for devotion, or peonies for prosperity.

By the time the rings make it back to the couple, they’re filled with the love of everyone present. It’s such a touching, inclusive way to involve the entire guest list in the ceremony.

This tradition has ancient roots—in cultures from Egypt to Greece to Rome, rings were symbols of eternity. The circular shape represented a love without end, and the space in the center was seen as a doorway into a new chapter of life together.
The tradition of wearing the wedding ring on the fourth finger of the left hand comes from the (now debunked, but still poetic) belief that a “vein of love” ran directly from that finger to the heart.
These days, your ring can be whatever you want it to be: gold or wood, diamonds or tattoos, handed down or handmade. What matters isn’t the material—it’s the moment.
When I photograph this part of a ceremony, I always slow down. There’s a stillness to it, a gravity. Whether you're exchanging heirlooms or something totally unique, it's the start of your forever.
#TraditionThursday #RingExchange #SymbolismInWeddings #MaineWeddingPhotographer

This is one of the most common questions I get before a shoot, and honestly—it’s a great one. What you wear can totally change the vibe of your photos (and how confident you feel in them).
✨ Here’s my go-to advice:
Don’t match—coordinate. Instead of identical colors or matching plaid shirts, think complementary tones and textures. If one of you is in soft beige linen, the other might look great in olive or rust.
Neutrals always photograph beautifully, especially against natural backdrops. If you’re shooting near the ocean, forest, or field, softer tones tend to let the two of you shine instead of fighting with the scenery.
👟 Don’t forget comfort! Your outfits should allow for walking, hugging, twirling, and all the silly-cute stuff we’ll do during your session. Layers are great because they add visual interest and can be removed if you want variety.
🎯 Bonus Tip: Bring an extra outfit! Sometimes we’ll start casual and end with something more dressy—or vice versa. It’s always good to have options depending on the light, location, and vibe.
Need help choosing? I’m always happy to weigh in or send inspo. You don’t have to figure it all out alone.
